Our chicken

Since autumn 2020 a colourful herd of hens grazes on our pastures in fully mobile chicken coops.

We hatch the majority of our own birds on the farm and not every egg yields a laying hen. Accordingly, we also raise our "brother-roosters" on the pastures and only separate them from their sisters once they mature.

In contrast to the common practice, we place our faith in dual-purpose breeds, so that our roosters still have an acceptable weight gain. After 18 weeks,  meaning three times the lifespan of their conventional brothers, we can offer them as delicious oven roasts.
